Muggle Mondays

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY'S CLASSICS LISTI saw this issue at my sisters house - I was SO excited!! Then I saw this article on MuggleNet: Entertainment Weekly magazine has released their 1,000th issue, marking the occasion by creating a list of 1,000 new classics. JK Rowling was named the top Favorite Author, while Goblet of Fire was listed as the number two best read between 1983 and 2008.
Additionally, the cover includes Dan Radcliffe front and center from Goblet of Fire. Standing behind him are notable 'new classics' such as Bono, Johnny Depp, Beyonce, and Will Smith. Thanks to Kris for the tip!
EDIT: Lissette also points out to us that Cedric Diggory's death is listed in the25 Classic Death Scenes.

Muggle Mondays

COCO MADEMOISELLE by CHANEL
U.K.’s Daily Mail is reporting that Emma Watson will be the new face for the Coco Mademoiselle. Currently Keira Knightley is the face for the fragrance, however Chanel will be giving Keira something else to pose for. Chanel is expected to make the announcement next month. Watson has reportedly signed a two-year contract worth $6 million. A source says that "Emma has been excitedly telling friends that she is going to be taking over from Keira." However, spokes person for Emma denied the claim.

According to MuggleNet, these rumors are being denied by Chanel, but we will see what happens next month!!

Most Powerful Celebrities
MuggleNet reported that Forbes has once again named JK Rowling one of the most powerful celebrities. She comes in at number nine, after such stars as Oprah Winfrey, Tiger Woods, and Johnny Depp.
Forbes writes:It was wizardry that transformed J.K. Rowling from a destitute single mother on welfare into a best-selling billionaire. Her adventures of teenage magician Harry Potter and his classmates at Hogwarts became a children's literary sensation in 1998 with the U.S. publication of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

In God's Spare Time...

Leave it to Jennifer to say something that will lighten any subject…

We were having a serious chat when she busts out with the following quote… I had to bust out laughing…

‘I think God is a huge prankster and is highly amused by the love situations he puts us in… its like reality TV shows in heaven!’

I guess she took the whole Angels watching over us, literately!! Thanks for making me laugh, Jenny!

Cell Phone Singing...

I am always very aware of my ‘personal’ phone time at work, and if my cell phone rings, it is rare that I will answer it. Especially because until my company moves floors, I share an office with 3 other women… so we basically can see/hear everything that each other does. I basically keep it on my desk in case I get a text message.

So the other week I was working when my phone started vibrating. I didn’t look at it; instead I just flipped it open sideways, thinking I was about to read a text message. From my previous blog you will understand what I mean about flipping it sideways… when you open it that way, it automatically turns the speakerphone on! It happened to be my roommate calling me… she apparently wasn’t paying attention either, because all of a sudden I heard this awful noise coming from my phone… she was singing while waiting for me to answer, and when I didn’t say ‘hello’ she just assumed it was still ringing… I was so distracted by the appalling noise that was coming from my phone it took to take it off speakerphone. I was laughing so hard I could barely talk to her… when I got off the phone, I could barely explain to the other women in my office what had happened because I was still laughing so hard.

Lessons learned?
1. Look at my phone to be 100% sure it’s a text before just flipping it open
2. Never go Karaokeing with Ariana - she really should keep to her day job… she has a very unpleasant singing voice… :)

Of Course Vampires Hate It - It Stinks!‏

I don’t know if this happens to any of you, but when I cook with garlic, I cannot get the smell off my hands and it drives me nuts! I smell it for up to 2 days after I cook with it! And no, I will not use garlic powder – I am Italian… that’s some kind of sin in our world! So I decided to google ways to get the smell off. Apparently there are a lot of different things you can do, but there was only one I could do while I was at the office.

You are suppose to rub your hands over stainless steel – such as a faucet, knife, spoon, etc. Obvioulsy, I was a little hesitant, but what could it hurt?? So I went to the bathroom, wet them, and started rubbing them up and down the faucet… while doing this, my boss walks in… she doesn’t say anything about what I am doing but instead smiles at me awkwardly and sparks up a random conversation… I was so embarrased! But after I dried my hands, the smell was gone!! My boss might think I enjoy molesting bathroom faucets, but at least my hands no longer smell like garlic!! YAY!

Snap, Crackle, Pop!!

A while ago, I was helping my friends Ashley and Justin pack for their big move to Miami. Ashley and I were cleaning out her pantry – she had some Rice Krispies Cereal she was about to hand to me. There must have been a hole in the box because rice krispies started pouring all over the place… including down her shirt and into her sports bra! She was all sweaty from packing, that they actually started popping inside her bra from her sweat!!! We were laughing so hard! Definitely have never seen that before! Snap, crackle, pop right inside her bra!! haha

Muggle Mondays

Sorry - Better late than never, right?? Well this is a short and sweet Muggle Monday (well not short in length, but short in only one story) this is the Prequel that JK Rowling wrote to raise money for charity, along with 12 other authors. I found the typed version on MuggleNet.
Please Enjoy!

The Prequel:
The speeding motorcycle took the sharp corner so fast in the darkness that both policemen in the pursuing car shouted,"Whoa!" Sergeant Fisher slammed his large foot on the brake, thinking that the boy who was riding pillion was sure to be flung under his wheels; however, the motorbike made the turn without unseating either of its riders, and with a wink of its red tail lights, vanished up the narrow side street. "We've got 'em now!" cried PC Anderson excitedly. "That's a dead end!" Leaning hard on the steering wheel and crashing his gears, Fisher scraped half the paint off the flank of the car as he forced it up the alleyway in pursuit. There in the headlights sat their quarry, stationary at last after a quarter of an hour's chase. The two riders were trapped between a towering brickwall and the police car, which was now crawling towards them like some growling luminous-eyes predator. There was so little space between the car doors and the walls of the alley that Fisher and Anderson had difficulty extricating themselves from the vehicle. It injured their dignity to have to inch, crab-like, towards the miscreants. Fisher dragged his generous belly along the wall, tearing buttons off his shirt as he went, and finally snapping off the wing mirror with his backside. "Get off the bike!" he bellowed at the smirking youths, who sat basking in the flashing blue light as though enjoying it.They did as they were told, finally pulling free from the broken wing mirror, Fisher glared at them. They seemed to be in their late teens. The one who had been driving had long black hair, his insolent good looks reminded Fisher unpleasantly of his daughter's guitar-playing, layabout boyfriend. The second boy also had black hair, though his was short and stuck up in all directions; he wore glasses and a broad grin. Both were dressed in t-shirts emblazoned with a large golden bird; the emblem, no doubt, of some deafening, timeless rock band. "No helmet!" Fisher yelled, pointing from one uncovered head to the other. "Exceeding the speed limit by-by a considerable amount!" (In fact, the speed registered had been greater than Fisher was prepared to accept that any motorcycle could travel.) "Failure to stop for the police!""We'd have loved to stop for a chat," said the boy in glasses,"only we were trying--" "Don't get smart-you two are in a heap of trouble!" snarled Anderson. "Names!""Names?" repeated the long-haired driver."Er-Well, let's see. There's Wilberforce...Bathsheba...Elvendork...""And what's nice about that one is, you can use it for a boy OR a girl," said the boy in glasses. "Oh, our names, did you mean?" asked the first, as Anderson spluttered with rage."You should've said! This here is James Potter, and I'm Sirius Black!""Things'll be seriously black for you in a minute, you cheeky little-" But neither James nor Sirius was paying attention. They were suddenly as alert as gundogs, staring past Fisher and Anderson, over the roof of the police car, at the dark mouth of the alley. Then, with identical, fluid movements, they reached into their back pockets. For the space of a heartbeat both policemen imagined guns gleaming at them, but a second later they saw that the motorcyclists had drawn nothing more than- "Drumsticks?" jeered Anderson. "Right pair of jokers, aren't you? Right, we're arresting you on a charge of--" But Anderson never got to name the charge. James and Sirius had shouted something incomprehensible, and the beams from the headlights had moved. The policemen wheeled around, then staggered backwards. Three men were flying-actually flying- up the alley on broomsticks-and at the same moment, the police car was rearing up on its back wheels. Fisher's knee bucked; as he sat down hard; Anderson tripped over Fisher's legs and fell on top of him, as flump-bang-crunch- they heard the mean on brooms slam into the suspended car and fall, apparently insensible, to the ground, while broken bits of broomstick clattered down around them. The motorbike had roared into life again. His mouth hanging open, Fisher mustered the strength to look back at the two teenagers. "Thanks very much!" called Sirius over the throb of the engine."We owe you one!" "Yeah, nice meeting you!" said James. "And don't forget: Elvendork! It's unisex!" There was an earth-shaking crash, and Fisher and Anderson threw their arms around each other in fright; their car had just fallen back to the ground. Now it was the motorcycle's turn to rear. Before the policemen's disbelieving eyes, it took off into thin air: James and Sirius zoomed away into the night sky, their tail light twinkling behind them like a vanishing ruby. From the prequel I am not working on-but that was fun! J.K. Rowling.2008

Boot Camp Update - Week 4

Well I can’t get too excited… I am signed up for another one that starts next week… its with the same two trainers, we are just changing locations. The place we are going has hills that they plan on utilizing… oh joy (can you hear the sarcasim??). Jennifer and Cheryl are both going to do it again as well. I hate it while I am there, but I love it afterwards!

I have been told that you are supposed to give something 6 weeks before you start seeing results… so I am giving it time. I wish that I would have taken my measurments before I started it so I could compare… maybe I will do it for the next one… and if I am brave I will post what they are! Haha

Muggle Mondays

No Trelawny in Half-Blood Prince! I thought it was weird – but Professor Trelawny is not going to be in HBP! Which is kind of a disappointment because she is the one that informs Harry about Snape overhearing the prophecy and that Draco is in the Room of Requirement… I thought that was a pretty significant part in the book… oh well, we will see what happens!!

2008 Tony Awards Playbill
stated that Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) and Richard Griffiths, the stars of Equus, will be presenters at the 2008 Tony Awards- most likely to promote their upcoming Broadway production of Equus. The Tonys will be broadcast on June 15th starting at 8 PM EST on CBS. Thanks MuggleNet!

Rob Knox
I told you that Rob Knox was stabbed to death last week, MuggleNet
is now reporting that Daniel Radcliffe and other Harry Potter stars will attend his funeral. Rob Knox had already filmed his part as Marcus Belby – so I guess we will see him in HBP.

DRACO MALFOY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DRACO MALFOY!
His birthday, according to JK Rowlings’s official website, is June 5th.

NEW HBP PICTURES LEAKED

Harry in the corridors
Snape watching Draco walk away
Hermione, Harry, and Ron hanging out in Ron's Room
Thanks MuggleNet
!

HARVARD DEGREE

JK Rowling made a commencement speech at Harvard this week. She addressed her Potter Fans in the speech by saying "We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better."

Harvard also presented her with an honorary Harvard Degree - wouldnt that be nice!

Thanks The Leaky Cauldron!

Boot Camp Update - Week 3

Every week is supposed to get harder and harder – and they really do! Tuesday was an insane workout, but they were a little nicer to us on Thursday.

My friend Michael joined us this week – he works out everyday, so I was curious to see how he would like it. Even he was a little sore from Tuesday’s workout! So I didn’t feel as bad… although the trainers were a little harder on him, giving him larger weights, tighter leg band, and making him run more… but he said it was a good workout – so that makes me feel better – I’m not being a baby!!

I am finally seeing some results though! For months now I have not been able to get lower than this certain weight, no matter how much I watched what I ate… well I weighed myself last week and I was 2 lbs lighter than that weight! That was a week ago, so I don’t know how much total I have lost, but I am SUPER happy about that! YAY for finally seeing results!!!

Muggle Mondays

Potter Actor Killed
New York Times reported on the sad news of the killing of Rob Knox on May 24, 2008. He won a part of Marcus Belby in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie. He was stabbed outside a London Bar; a 21 year old has been arrested on suspicion for the murder. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. (Knox is on the right)

Potter Prequel
(picture of the last line 'From the prequel I am not working on - but that was fun!)
JK Rowling was one of 13 authors asked to write for Waterstones Postcard Book. Rowling wrote an 800-word Potter Prequel, although she clearly states 'I am NOT working on a prequel. Indeed, I've written that clearly at the bottom of the card itself.'(pictured above).
MuggleNet spoke with Waterstone earlier - they announced you can pre-order the book (proceeds go to charities, which is why JK Rowling agreed) at this website (click here). Waterstone told MuggleNet it was a 'complete surprise' to them as they asked each author to write a story, then waited for what they got.
JK Rowling updated her official website saying the prequel takes place 3 years before Harry is born. The story will become available to view June 11th. How exciting!!! You can imagine all the muggles that will be pre-ordering this book! They even limited it to 2 books per person because of the high demand they are expecting. Thanks for the heads up MuggleNet!!
