Merry Christmas!

Some Christmas Humor for you guys :) But, lets not forget the true meaning behind this day. The Birth of Jesus Christ.I received my Christmas Miracle early this year. I had a very serious scare with my eye last month. The pressure was extremely high (55) and my eye doctor told me that my eye would not survive much longer if we couldn't bring it down. For once, I was very nervous because the usual treatment wasn't working. We tried some different meds and when I returned my eye doctor was shocked at how well my eye responded! I am still on 3 different drops and oral medication for the time being, but yet again, my eye beat the odds. There is really only one reason that I can see the way that I do, because of Him.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

God Bless!

Christmas Card Display

I didn't have a place to display all the Christmas Cards I was receiving, so I decided to make one! I wrapped a piece of cardboard with some wrapping paper and criss-crossed some ribbon and voila!
It's not very big, but it does the trick! Except now that I have so many, they aren't fitting... any other ideas??

Green Thumb? Not me!

This is my very first plant to own. I was a little nervous about killing it, but I was told that Ivy's are pretty much impossible to kill... well apparently I beat the odds. This is what my Ivy looks like now....
I took out all the dead leaves, and watered it (maybe that's why it died??) and am hoping it comes back to life... fingers crossed!!

Turning 26!

Happy Birthday to me!! Because my birthday fell on a Monday, I celebrated this weekend. My best friend, Kara, came in to help celebrate too :) Here are a couple pictures from the weekend!
Ernie, Kara, Me Me with Vanessa
My Mom made one of my favorite cakes - Dirt Cake!! It was SO yummy!! Now for the funny part!
Kara, who is newly pregnant, was not drinking for obvious reasons so she was our designated driver. Before we even got into the bar, she wrecked my car! Not bad, and to her defense, it was dark, rainy, a small parking lot, and she is not used to my car... She managed to get my car stuck on a curb (there was a drop off so the curb was taller then most). We could not reverse or go forward, so we had to call a tow truck (thanks Ernie!) to lift my car off of it. Everything was fine until we were driving home that night and the bottom runner started dragging... luckily some friends were following us and were able to take it off... The next morning they were able to put it back on - no damage done :) thanks handy friends!!!
Kara's uh-oh faceMe being helpful (words of encouragement) Me being sad :( Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate, and my family for taking me out to dinner at Babins (my fav!) and celebrating at Nana's!! I had a blast!!!

Shreveport, LA Trip

My best friend, Kara, wanted to go to Shreveport, LA for her birthday. She lives in Longview, TX so the drive to Shreveport isn’t that long… unfortunately my navigator, Brandon, decided to get us lost about 100 times with his so-called ‘short cuts’ which put us in for a 5 hour drive… all I have to say is thank goodness for iPhones! Otherwise I have a feeling we would still be driving around!!

Here are some of my favorite pics!!

On the Boardwalk in Shreveport! (Vanessa, Kara, Me)With my best friend! On the way there, we stopped at a Subway for dinner – my total came to $7.77 – which I took as a sign I should definitely gamble! Thank goodness I did!! I came back a couple hundred more in my pocket :) all on black jack – go me!!

And look how I transformed this picture using a really cool app from my iPhone!!!

Karys LOVES cupcakes just about as much as she loves the color Pink! I promised her we would make cupcakes together, and she wanted to make sure we made 'Pinkalicious Cupcakes.' Could this little child get any more adorable?
Working Hard! Sweet Smile

My Relaxing Day...

Today I am taking a Personal Day – I had some vacation I needed to use, and I wanted some much needed rest… and then I started thinking about all the things I could get accomplished today… so I made myself a To-Do List for my ‘relaxing day’ because it seems that I have to constantly be doing SOMETHING…

* Massage
*Post Office (drop something off and pick something up)
*Fabric Store (lots of small items to pick up)
*Finish Sewing Halloween Costume
*Buy New Shoes (apparently I am very tough on shoes because I ruin them REALLY fast!)

I will hopefully complete all or most of my tasks… especially the first one :)

Curtains, and Painting, and Sewing. Oh My!

This project started a couple of weeks ago, when I decided to hang curtains in my dining room. I had some pretty scarves, and thought they would go good - but then they came out looking like this... I hated it. I thought it looked too 'old' for me... So I went for a different 'clean' look and now I love it! I follow a VERY Creative blogger at Beneath my Heart where she transformed a drop cloth into curtains. Being that I just started sewing, I thought I could handle that! First, I had to paint my old rods... this process took the longest because I had limited room on my patio and it kept raining..
The different colored poles...
I bought this textured spray paint which worked great! This is the drop cloth I bought... The Home Depot guy thought I was a little weird... but just wait until you see the final project!! I had to wash, dry, and iron the drop cloths before I started the sewing, and I had to steam them A LOT because they are so thick...
I made the top!! I was very pleased with the way it came out - and how easy it was!
And then I hemmed the bottom... Because I re-used items I already had, I only had to purchase the drop cloths and the spray paint. So for around $60.00, I was able to hang curtains in my living room and dining room! YAY me!!
